General Rules and Consequences

Cell Phones/iPads/Laptops/Gaming Systems:

  • 1st Offense    1 day ISS
  • 2nd Offense- 3 Days ISS (Parent picks up the phone before 3:30 pm)
  • 3rd Offense-  3 Days ISS (Parent picks up the phone before 3:30 pm). Turn your phone/device in every morning for the remainder of the semester.
  • 4th Offense- 1 Day OSS 
  • 5th Offense- 2 Days OSS
  • 6th Offense- A-School

Earbuds: 

  • 1st Offense- 1 Day ISS
  • 2nd Offense- 2 Days ISS
  • 3rd Offense- 3 Days ISS
  • 4th Offense- OSS 2 days

Profanity:

  • 1st Offense- 1 Day ISS
  • 2nd Offense- 2 Days ISS
  • 3rd Offense- 5 Days ISS
  • 4th Offense- 1 Day OSS
  • 5th Offense- 2 Days OSS
  • 6th Offense- A-School (Min. 20 days)

Profanity to Teacher/Faculty/ Staff:

  • 1st Offense- 3 days OSS
  • 2nd Offense- 5 days OSS
  • 3rd Offense- A-School (Min.20 days)

Disruptive Classroom Behavior:

  • 1st Offense - 2 Days ISS
  • 2nd Offense 3 Days ISS
  • 3rd Offense - 3 Days OSS
  • 4th Offense - Alternative School

Students being out of pocket:/ Skipping Class:

  • 1st Offense - 1 Day ISS
  • 2nd- 3 Days ISS
  • 3rd-  3 Days OSS (Meeting with Parents)

Skipping School/ Leaving without Permission:

  • 1st Offense- 3 Days ISS
  • 2nd Offense- 5 Days ISS
  • 3rd Offense-  3 Days OSS 
  • 4th Offense- Alternative School

Tardy to Class:

  • 1st Offense- Warning
  • 2nd Offense- 1 Day ISS
  • 3rd Offense or more- 3 Days ISS

 Forged Notes/ Bogus calls for Check-Out:

  • 1st Offense- 1 Day ISS/ Citation to Court
  • 2nd Offense- 3 Days ISS/ Citation to Court

Stealing/Vandalism:

  • 1st Offense- OSS / Citation to Court/ A-School (determined by Administration)

Tobacco/E-Cigs/ Vapes:

  • 1st Offense- 3 days ISS
  • 2nd Offense- 1 Week ISS
  • 3rd Offense 3 Days OSS
  • 4th + A-School (Min.20 days)

Verbal confrontation among students:

  • 1st Offense- Suspended the day of confrontation
  • 2nd Offense- 2 Days OSS
  • 3rd Offense- 3 Day OSS
  • 4th Offense-  A-School

 Fighting:

  • 1st Offense- Suspended that day + a  20-day suspension to be served in the Giles County  Alternative School.
  • 2nd Offense- 1-year placement in the Giles County  Alternative School.

ISS (In-School Suspension):

A student who is placed in ISS must turn their cell phone in to the teacher upon entering the class. Any student found to have a cell phone will be suspended for 3 days. Violating ISS class rules will also result in a 3-day suspension.

HABITUAL STUDENT MISBEHAVIOR

             Students who continually and habitually disrupt class and/or do not follow school policies may be removed from school or placed on probation.
