English IV/Visual Literacy

Welcome to Giles County High School Room #49!  My name is Jennifer Sanders, and I teach Speech & Communication, Genre Literature, Creative Writing, and Visual Literacy.  I am in my 22nd year of teaching and my 20th year at GCHS. It has been my privilege to teach all four English course levels from freshman to senior year. Other courses I have instructed include: theatre, ACT Prep, RTI, journalism, and composition.

Education: B.S. in English from Martin Methodist College; B.A. in Communications from Middle TN State University; A.A. from Martin Methodist College; Graduate of Giles County High School

Personal Life: Mother of two sons - Caleb, 25 (Class of 2020), and Kaden, 19 (Class of 2025) 

Pets: Two dogs (Charlie & Peanut) and seven cats (Piper, Cheeto, Angel, Willow, Raven, & 2 new kittens - our “Nuggets” for now).

Hobbies: Reading, shopping, volunteering, going to thrift stores, doing yardwork, going on outside adventures, and trying random projects

Favorites: 

Trip: going to the beach or the mountains

Candy bars: Hershey or Whatchamacallit

Soda: Diet Dr. Pepper or Diet Sundrop

Collections: miniatures, crochet critters, candles & lotions that smell nice

Activities: exploring new places with my family; spending time with friends; helping people; trying new restaurants

Colors: It changes all the time, but it is often a jewel tone or a color that fits the current season. At the moment I’m loving green and lavender!

Best Advice: Life can be a busy experience, and it is important to develop adult skills to survive in this crazy world. Learn to make good choices to establish a successful future. With set expectations, a good work ethic, and a positive attitude, we will get you to the graduation line!
