Hi, my name is Angie Black, and I am beginning my 10th year at GCHS. I teach junior English and ACT Prep. I am also the proud sponsor of the GCHS Beta Club. I joined the Bobcat staff in 2018 and knew immediately I was home. I often tell people that I did not choose teaching--teaching chose me. I graduated from Tennessee Tech University in Cookeville, Tennessee, with a B.S. in English/Journalism with the intention of working in mass communications. After working in the news industry for several years, I had my first child and decided not to return to work. I was a stay-at-home mom for 12 years before returning to the work force as an educational assistant, and the rest is history (or, in this case, English)! I fell in love with the teaching profession and have not looked back. I love Giles County High School and am honored to be a part of the Bobcat family. 

I have been married to my husband, Mike Black, for 33 years. He is an engineering manager at Graphics Packaging in Lawrenceburg. We have two amazing children, Carson and Macy. My son, Carson, graduated from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga and received his Ph.D. in anatomy at Lincoln Memorial University. My daughter, Macy, received her nursing degree from the University of Tennessee Knoxville, and is currently an RN at St. Thomas Medical Center in Nashville.  

My hobbies include traveling, reading, writing, thrifting, supporting the Vols, and spending time with family.
